Privacy policy

Last updated: October 26, 2026

This policy applies to the PACER 42 mobile app (iOS and Android), the pacer42.com website and the app.pacer42.com web app (“PACER”).

1. Data controller

PACER 42 is operated by Santiago Rafael Cuenca Palacios, Cuenca, Ecuador, the controller of the personal data described here.

Contact for any privacy matter: contacto@pacer42.com

2. Data we collect

Account and profile: name, email, profile photo, city, country, sex, date of birth, phone, language and units. If you take part in prize draws or the Amateur Ranking: ID or passport number and, only if you provide it to receive a prize, your address.

Sports activity: type, date and time, distance, duration, pace, elevation and route (GPS track). It reaches PACER in four ways:

  • the PACER tracker, which uses your location while you record an activity, including with the screen off; the route is saved;
  • Apple Health: we read your workouts; PACER does not write to your health records;
  • services you connect: Strava, Polar and Garmin Connect (after your initial authorization, syncing continues until you disconnect);
  • what you record yourself.

The route is also saved when the activity arrives from Strava or Polar.

Health diary (optional): if you use it, we store the events you log (for example aches or injuries: title, body area, side, intensity, notes and kilometers). This is health information; we process it based on your consent, which you give when you start using the diary and can withdraw at any time by deleting the events, to show it to you and to generate your PDF report if you request it. We do not use it for advertising or any other purpose, and you can delete it at any time (by deleting the events or your account).

Platform use: challenges, clubs, duels, points, credits, draw tickets, redemptions and purchases; claps, in-app notifications, your confirmation of legal age for prize draws and, if you sign in with Strava, your athlete identifier. If you select a watch brand (for example Garmin) in Profile > My devices without connecting it, we store only that interest.

Technical data: push notification token, device platform and diagnostic logs.

3. Why we use your data and on what basis

PurposeBasis
Count your activities in your challenges, rankings, clubs and duels; show your historyPerformance of the service you request
Notifications about your challenges, clubs and drawsPerformance of the service; you can turn them off on your device
Manage points, credits, redemptions, purchases and drawsPerformance of the service and legal obligations (receipts)
Detect duplicates, fraud and invalid activitiesLegitimate interest in the integrity of rankings
Connect Strava, Polar or Garmin; health diary; tracker locationYour consent, which you can withdraw

We do not use your data for third-party advertising or commercial profiling. PACER does not sell personal data.

Automated decisions: an automatic process may exclude an activity when it detects a duplicate, an unsupported activity type or an out-of-range pace. We do not notify you automatically; if you believe it was excluded by mistake, write to contacto@pacer42.com and a person will review it.

4. Garmin connection

You can connect your Garmin Connect account from Profile > My devices. The connection is being enabled gradually: if you do not yet see that option, it is not available for your account and we receive no Garmin data from it. In addition, activities from a Garmin watch may reach PACER through Strava or Apple Health; in that case those services’ policies also apply.

What we receive: if you connect your Garmin Connect account, with your explicit consent we receive your completed activities: type, date and time, distance, duration, elevation and device name. We do not receive your Garmin password: authorization takes place on Garmin’s site and you choose which permissions to grant.

Use: only to count your activities in your challenges and rankings and to show them to you. In the app they are labeled “Garmin [device model]”.

Who receives it: stored in our database hosted on Supabase (section 6). It is not sold, not given to advertisers, sponsors or commercial partners, and not sent to any other third party. Your name and results may be visible to other users in the rankings, clubs and duels you take part in. pacer42.com shows a public table of the active challenge (first name, last-name initial, city and distance) and aggregate, anonymous statistics (total kilometers, latest activity with city and country) computed from all users’ activities; when they include Garmin data, those views carry the corresponding Garmin attribution.

Artificial intelligence: no PACER feature processes your Garmin data with artificial intelligence systems, and that data is not used to train, evaluate or improve AI models. If this changes, we will update this policy first and ask for your explicit consent, which you will be able to withdraw easily.

What we do not do: we do not use this data to assess creditworthiness, insurance or employment, nor for medical or diagnostic purposes.

Withdrawing consent: you can remove Garmin in Profile > My devices, or in your Garmin Connect account settings (connected apps or data permissions). In both cases we stop receiving your data and delete our access credentials; if you disconnect from Garmin, we receive the notice and act in the same way. If you also want us to delete Garmin activities already imported, write to contacto@pacer42.com or delete your account.

Garmin is an independent controller of the data in your Garmin Connect account. Its notice: https://www.garmin.com/privacy/connect

5. Strava and Polar

If you connect Strava or Polar we receive your sports activities and basic profile data from that service (identifier, name, photo and, for Strava, sex), through their official interfaces and with your authorization. Strava and Polar are independent controllers of the data they already hold about you. You can disconnect them in Profile > My devices or in each service’s account. Apple Health data is used only to record your activities; it is not used for advertising or shared with third parties.

6. Who else is involved

To operate PACER we use these providers:

* If your Garmin watch writes to Apple Health, those activities pass through Apple Health under your control.

Supabase, Expo, RevenueCat, Resend, Bluehost and Cloudflare process data on our behalf. Apple, Google, Payphone, Strava, Polar and Garmin are also independent controllers within their own services. Your data may be stored and processed outside Ecuador, mainly in the USA; we rely on each provider’s contractual data-protection terms. Providers’ backups may keep deleted data for a limited time.

7. Who we share data with

  • Other PACER users: whatever is part of rankings, clubs, duels and profiles (name, city, photo, results and sports statistics). Taking part in a challenge means appearing in its table; if you do not want to appear, write to us and we will handle your request.
  • Publicly: prize draw winners are announced with first name, last-name initial and city (see the prize draw rules); and pacer42.com shows the active-challenge table and the aggregate statistics described in section 4.
  • Authorities, when the law requires it.
  • No one else, except the providers in section 6. We do not sell or rent personal data.

8. How long we keep it

While your account is active. When you delete it we delete your profile, activities, enrollments, integrations and access credentials, health diary and redemptions. We keep:

  • purchase receipts, up to 7 years for accounting and tax obligations, unlinked from your account;
  • your Amateur Ranking marks, with the name, email, ID number and date of birth attached to them, until you ask for deletion by writing to contacto@pacer42.com;
  • the result of duels another person took part in, without identifying you;
  • technical and internal verification records (for example alerts about duplicate or suspicious activities, and backups of maintenance operations) that may retain your internal user identifier; we delete them when you ask.

You cannot delete your account while a team battle is in progress: finish or cancel it and try again, or write to us.

9. Your rights

You may access, correct, delete, object, restrict processing, request portability (a digital copy of your data) and withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing.

  • Delete your account and data: in the app (Profile) or at https://app.pacer42.com/eliminar-cuenta
  • Disconnect Garmin, Strava or Polar: in the app (Profile > My devices) or in each service’s account.
  • Access, correction, export or objection: write to contacto@pacer42.com; we reply within the deadlines set by law.

You may also file a complaint with Ecuador’s personal data protection authority.

10. Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit, per-user access rules in the database and storage of connected-service credentials only on our servers. We are tightening access to some profile data by other signed-in users. No system is infallible. If a breach affects your data, we will notify you as required by law.

11. Minors

PACER is directed at people aged 18 or over. Prize draws require being of legal age.

12. Cookies and local storage

pacer42.com does not use cookies or equivalent tracking technologies; we measure visits with cookie-free analytics. The app.pacer42.com web app stores your session in your browser’s local storage, only to keep you signed in.

13. Amateur Ranking

The Amateur Ranking (10K, half marathon and marathon) is fed only by marks that each person submits and that we verify against the official race result link; it does not come from watches or connected apps. If you submit a mark we collect your ID or passport number (unique identifier to avoid duplicates; it does not appear in the ranking), date of birth (only the category is published), name, city, country, sex, race result data and the link to the official result. No image of your ID document is collected. Data is kept while the ranking is active or until you ask for deletion.

14. Changes

We may update this policy. The current version is published on this page with its date and, for important changes, we will notify you in the app.
